Patients’ Knowledge Regarding Cardiac Catheterization at Cardiac Specialty Hospital in Slemani City Iraq: A Descriptive Study

Background: Cardiac catheterization (CC) is the inserting of a thin, hollow catheter into chamber or vessel; it done for diagnostic and intervention purposes. Death charges from coronary heart disease have decreased in recent decennium, however, still major cause morbidity mortality worldwide especially developed countries. Coronary refers to different conditions failing circulation includes myocardial infarction (MI). In this study, we assessed patients’ knowledge regarding CC. Materials Methods: A descriptive study was conducted with purposive sample 250 patients were selected included Specialty Hospital Slemani City, Iraq. This carried out between November 2017 October 2018. self-conductive questionnaire used data collection. Results: Totally study. Among patients, 176 (70.4%) males 74 (29.6%) females. The validity estimated through panel experts related field its reliability determined pilot which on 105 who purposively patient admitted those undergone procedure at city. Most 70.4% participants male majority 212 (84.8%) Kurdish more than quarter patient’s age group 60 years above. 202 (80.8%) married 117 (46.8 %) illiterate, 171 (68.4%) them unemployed, 148 (59.2%) lived an urban area. Conclusion: Our present showed that had low level CC as well post-CC higher pre-CC procedure. Key Words: Knowledge, cardiac catheterization, pre post-cardiac Iraq
